Ahead of the World Dairy Forum, the European Dairy Association (EDA) and Dairy UK are organising a series of breakout sessions at the EDA Annual Congress. Several experts from across the EU will discuss economics and sustainability topics with the Congress delegates. The economics breakout session will take place on Thursday 15 October from 2pm to 5pm at the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
Market experts Kevin Bellamy and Matthew Johnson will present the latest developments and future prospects for the global dairy industry in this session sponsored by Rabobank, titled, Mature Markets versus Developing Markets: where to next? It will look at what the medium-term outlook is for the global dairy industry and which developing markets hold the most potential and ask the question, is Africa the next China?Along with market trends, they will consider how to balance supply and demand across the world and try to identify opportunities for growth and expansion. As China strengthens its position as a key international player, is Sub-Saharan Africa the next region of choice of the dairy industry?
As 2015 opens up new challenges for the European and global dairy industry, farmers, processors, industry commentators and analysts come together to discuss the future of the dairy industry. In the future of the dairy industry session, questions such as what evolutions for dairy farming in the coming years, and what will dairy processing look like in ten and 20 years, will be examined. This session will be an open platform for a productive exchange of ideas and discussion on what the future holds for our industry. Speakers include Gwyn Jones (AHDB Dairy), Frédéric Chausson (Sodiaal), Ian Potter (Ian Potter Associates) and Mark Voorbergen (CM&P).
